MOODUS RESORT ADS

It was known in some quarters as "Vacationland," in others as the "Catskills of Connecticut." There were more than 50 resorts in Moodus during its heyday as a vacation destination in the first half of the 20th century. Here are some postcards, ads and promotional brochures used by the resorts.

greenbergad.jpg (101168 bytes) 1913 ad for Greenberg's Farm House, "an ideal spot for rest and recreation." gruberad.jpg (100374 bytes) Gruber's Summer Camp advertised itself in 1913 as the place to "enjoy the invigorating and balmy air" of Moodus.
Wopowog_ad01.jpg (129550 bytes) "Entirely free from conventionality, wearing comfortable clothes and living a carefree life" is how Camp Wopowog enticed vacationers in this 1913 ad. Mount_Tom_ad01.jpg (88223 bytes) Come to "the most picturesque spot one could imagine" urged this 1913 ad for Mount Tom Camp.
